someone mentioned about a three horse league this year, what would happen if this actually happened, which it could in the future. what happened to old small town Sr. hockey? first of all I'd asked the Winterhawk's, their the ones that started the deterioration of the league and still pursue to. Maybe the WOAA should step up and intervene and set up some new rules so some old horses get their ass kicked for a change.

What rules do you suggest? Come on, let's see a solution instead of a complaint just once. Diluting the League and taking it back a few short years to when it was more Charlestown Chiefs than Montreal Canadians? Do you favour goons over skill? Would you pay to watch a Senior C League play? No one said anything when Durham won so many back-to-back titles in the late 90's - early 00's. No one said anything when Saugeen Shores won 4 of 5. Look at the League Champions and you can see there has been a wide distribution of Champions overall and they are always cyclic. How is putting a quality team on the ice a deterioration? Please explain for the slow-witted among us, and use small words. EVERY League in EVERY sport has teams that excel for a time and form, so-called, dynasties. So what? For the fan, dominance and underdogs are what they want; top dog winning and possibly the underdog beating them. Decisions made by team executives as to how they want to perform are on them and not on the League to mandate; think Harold Ballard! The rules allow for 5 Imports on the final roaster with no limit on Junior C 'quality' players under new rules who no longer are Imports. That rule change alone will water down the League and reduce the entertainment value of the product because it gives free reign to Team Executives to do less and complain more. There is a reason why some teams win and draw crowds and why others wish they did. It is all on the Team Executive and not because of rules and League mandates since we all know the League can't even spell mandate let alone figure out how to have one. Ours is the largest Senior Hockey League in the Country and we get no respect from anyone, too often our own 'fans' as well. As we know from his own words, 81's Fan rarely makes a game but always has pithy, often vulgar, comments. How many others who post on here never or rarely get to a game? Personally, I've missed fewer than 15 total games in nearly 20 years as a fan of this League, home and away. So, long story short, what rules?

Stant, 450 word rant is not long story short, it's a speech.

Hehhhh peeps, it's hockey season again and time for some good old Forum bantering..... Winterhawks the topic of discussion again and their ability to entice the better players away from the small town teams with promise of fame, high paying jobs, lavish perks and large bonuses. I wonder what the promised Minard to come and play there, rumour mill says they promised him a job, I wonder if it will pan out like Peckhams job. Oh wait a minute he didn't get that promised job maybe that;s why he isn;t back this season. What about the 81's are they done or will they make a return next season? What about the Crushers are they the next to follow, rumor is they have a new executive and coach but will it be enough. What about the Tcats and the infamous Gatlin Burt, what kind of craziness will he bring this year? Time will tell.....Let the fun begin.

Since I can't speak for teams like Durham and Ripley (although they did add two from the 81's that improve them) all I can say about the Squires is they have had a large overhaul and will look to battle for 4th (IMO). They shouldn't have an issue with keeping their legs to the finish as the new players are relatively young (big two Boyer and Mater are '94s). If anything, I believe Petrolia will get things going as the season progresses and should be stronger come playoffs. Not pushing them to do anything ground-breaking, but should be opposite to your perspective.

So looks like it's to early to predict! Who are people thinking the front runner is to finish first? After Ripley beating winterhawks on the weekend maybe they will make a solid run at 1st! Seaforth beat the thunder! And with the prior comment from a seaforth fan that they would like to be considered the "underdog" that they think they will challenge! And with reading who Clinton has coming back and new additions no one seems to be talking about them! P.s Anyone have their parade plans for T.O's cup win this year? Haha

Nomorebull I think you are a little full of bull. First who told you anyone at Winterhawks were telling players they would get them a job? Also don’t get to worried about the Winterhawks losing there first game they lost there first game last year and they did not do to bad in the long run. I was hoping a lot of the 81’s player would have went to Elora to make them a better team. Hope we don’t have a 3 horse race makes for better hockey.

Like is or not the league was at its strongest 3-4 years ago and has been slowly falling apart. Teams dropping out every year and the weak continue to get weaker while the strong continue to get stronger. This league does not have many years left at this rate.
Regardless it still delivers some pretty high end hockey and I'm excited to watch another year of it. Can't beat the talent we see for 10$.
Shot in the dark here but top 8 prediction
Saugeen Ripley Tillsonburg Clinton Durham Petrolia Seaforth Tavistock
