I was wondering, I seen a Radars tweet that shows several players that have now won 4 championships and many of those guys are still young and could possibly win more, maybe not in succession, but perhaps down the road. Does anyone know what individual player has the most championships won overall in their career. I would assume it might be a Durham Huskey or a Saugeen Shores player as they had powerhouse teams in the past. I would be interested to know.

Not sure how other teams can compete when you pay your players 5 grand a season maybe more. If you are a good player why go play for your home team when you can make 5 grand or more. Go 81s Go.

Cornelissen has 5 with Komoka/Clinton.

Wow 7 is quite an accomplishment that could be tough to beat, Greg Thede was a very good player who had a successful and long career. Thanks for the info mrbuzz Thanks to you also mike77 you posted just before I replied to mrbuzz

it's hardly a secret Clinton is handsomely compensating players.

it's hardly a secret Clinton is handsomely compensating players. What I want to know is how do you know? Seaforth pays for goals....10 = $500 Tillsonburg pays their former Jr B player Ripley pays Meurs Minto pays their players to live in cottages in Chatsworth in the winter with no heat or water. Seriously, who really cares? If your organization and team can't get sponsors or fans that is on you. Clinton's last game had a 50-50 of $2476 which is more than most teams made all season. Instead of blaming Clinton, be like Clinton and get fans and sponsors.

i talked with a clinton exec member who said they were paying players. his exact words were "they are more than taken care of"
good enough?
im not involved anymore, those days have long passed, but i don't think there should be big money spread around. its supposed to be small town senior hockey for local guys. what it is turning into is semi-pro hockey for guys from london and kitchener.
a few bucks for gas or for sticks, i think that's fine. when you get into thousands of dollars, and that's what lots of people are saying about clinton, i think that's excessive.
when i was involved back in ancient times, we decided not to pay players other than some mileage for a couple guys who had to drive quite a distance. but they were local kids who lived elsewhere. and it was legit gas money, nothing more. the reasons for not paying, we felt, was that money could lead to problems in the room and it was probably not sustainable, especially if you start cutting local kids to bring in some hot shot from out of town. we got our asses kicked by teams who came and went, but we always had local kids wanting to play for us, and that was good enough for us.
i don't know how much clinton sticks to the rules on 50/50, but i know teams up north were warned to get lottery licenses and do it properly, which means almost all of it goes to charity, which is better than it going to buy hockey players to win a senior hockey championship. but if clinton gets to keep that money and others get to keep 12 cents on the dollar, that's a huge discrepancy.
honestly, there's no rules against what anybody is doing, but it will kill the league. teams like clinton destroying the small teams will kill them off 1 by 1 (heard shallow lake is done). the teams in the north are basically fighting over the players that come out of owen sound and if the teams like clinton are buying guys out of london and wherever, the playing field will continue to be wildly uneven.
i heard ripley wasn't paying meurs, maybe they are, but they got him a job at one of the bruce power companies, which is better than a few bucks in an envelope at the end of the night. but really, ripley would be a good team, not a great one, if they didn't have the good fortune of meurs coming home. hometown boy, nothing wrong with that. mcfadden is coming in a few years, so they will be set for awhile, even if they lose walton.
the point of the league was for a place for the local boys to play after they were done junior. ya, there will always been shady business, always has been. the hockey has never been better, but i don't see how it is sustainable unless everybody is OK with it being an 8 team league in the near future.
anyways, the AGM is going to be wild i think. changes are coming. or, they will fight and nothing will pass and clinton will win again.

Which Executive member, there are only 5 I hear? "Taken care of" really could just be sticks and gas....you DON'T know If you're not involved then why complain? There are lots of local kids on Clinton; some just live in London. I think they had only 5 LEGITIMATE, VERIFIED by Driver's License and/or utility bill imports. People can say whatever they want...Clinton is currently successful and they are jealous. I'm sure the same things have been said in the past when Durham won 4 in 4 or Saugeen won 4 in 4. If paying wasn't sustainable then what makes it more so now? Do you know how much Clinton really generates in Sponsorship, gate receipts etc.? Clinton got its ass kicked lots in the day, so what's your point; see above. Cycles happen in sports, but maybe you never played so don't know? If there is no rule then why complain? Just like Trump and Russian 'collusion'; there is no evidence of a crime and no law against it so who cares? 50-50 is licensed by the AGCO and Ripley did not have one. Clinton always has had one, and being right next door to a Casino, it is highly likely the Inspector has asked for proof more than once. Just because they don't advertise what they do with their share does not give license to assume a thing. You hear lots for not being involved and know lots of team information, never proven, and getting someone a job for $60-80-100,000 is better than, an alleged, $$$ to play? What shady business happens now....players in Belmore for weekends getting declared local? Players in 3-season cottages getting declared local? Phantom 5 game players? Provide proof! Every year people predict the demise of the League, have you been to Shallow Lake....crappy arena, crappy team, crappy fan support all equal failure not what other teams are doing. If you know what is so wrong and you know what all teams are doing then I suggest you go to the AGM and run for President, Lord knows the League would benefit from a new one. THAT is the reason why there will be fights at the AGM...the management of the League on the whole and the lax attitude regarding teams from the North to the point of really pissing off Tillsonburg and Petrolia. As President you can implement all the rules you want to make the League better and correct and terrible and kill it and, oh wait, you know NOTHING, you will do NOTHING, you are all WIND and NO SUBSTANCE and full of yourself. Detroit made a big deal of 20 years in the Playoffs but nobody says a thing about them playing golf today. Sports has cycles, Clinton is in theirs, who cares so long as the League benefits; which it does when Clinton comes to town and they have more fans in the regular season than they get during Playoffs. Get fans like Clinton. Get an Executive like Clinton. Get Sponsors like Clinton; ever notice only one name is on the Home and Away jerseys? Build a team like Clinton. Follow the rules like Clinton and if you think they don't just ask for proof; my bet is they will provide it. Cycles come and go and one day Clinton will lose and it will be to a better team not a fan who "knows" (NOTHING).

I'm on Ripley's executive and I can emphatically tell you that Garrett Meurs was not getting paid to play hockey. He's a born-and-raised Ripley boy and chose to move home, like so many of us have done. Luckily, he's damn good at hockey too and wanted to keep playing. How, also, do you think the executive got Garrett a job? This is such a ridiculous statement that also dogged Saugeen Shores when they were winning titles. He applied for and got a job at the local telephone utility, which has been around for 100+ years and has nothing to do with Bruce Power. People need to stop thinking teams have such power over the local nuclear power plant, which, believe me, gives no shits about the quality of local senior hockey. Let's also give some credit to Garrett that he could find it within himself to apply for a job, conduct a job interview, and enter into an apprenticeship without a having his hand held. Jesus. The Wolves rely on our sponsors, our fans, our bar and a tight reign on expenses to keep the team viable. We don't have a lottery license, so we cannot hold a 50-50 draw. Our guys don't even take buses to most road games because of the cost to the team. People play in Ripley because they either live here or the Kincardine-area, or make the drive because they like the fact our players hang out together after the game and are genuinely proud to be Wolves. We have no doubt a good chunk of money exchanges hands on other teams around the league, it just isn't happening in Ripley.
