i heard there's a new league trying to get going by the guy who was turned down by woaa for a stratford team.
what are the odds this gets off the ground? any woaa teams jumping? i had a look at the league website and it didn't really have any information.
if nothing else nice to be thinking about getting back on the ice again.

Looks like Tillsonburg and Elora have jumped to the new league Is this the death of the woaa senior league ?. It looks like Alvinston is putting in a team which is just down the road from Petrolia, Petrolia was having a tough time getting players out before, will this be the end of the Squires. Strathroy also not too far from Petrolia or London, does this hurt the Radars getting their players from London to still come out ?. Stratford, close to Milverton and Tavistock, will they survive. By the woaa not granting a team to Stratford could this end up killing the woaa. Time will tell but I would have thought it might have been better for the woaa to grant these teams a place in their league and then they could have gone to a north south division again and cut down on the travel which is what it seems the teams in the woaa wanted to do anyways. This is going to be interesting.

I have a feeling Clinton will still be able to get the players they want.
the question will always be, can this new league survive putting teams in towns that have long established junior B teams? it hasn’t worked for WOAA to do that. senior hockey will always get overshadowed by junior teams in same town. only so many sponsor dollars to go around etc.
seemed to me tillsonburg wasn’t going to stay in woaa any longer than they had to. and Elora? Meh, they have been a fragment of what they were before they took that year off. is there anybody running petrolia anymore? showing up to playoff games with 8 guys is beyond embarrassing.
the woaa may become more of a northern loop as a result of this, which may not be a bad thing.
should probably wait and see if the new league can stick around before writing any obituaries.

hearing Elora has new or expanded/leadership with more new teams to come. Personally I think there is room for both. The Woaa and the new group. JR b and Senior were in same towns together for years way back when. The WOAA only appears to favor the teams whith youth roots in the WOAA so this could be good for all leagues. As for Clinton they will not miss a beat I am sure, most teams will kill for their budget.

What was Tillsonburgs reason for leaving the woaa, I know many teams were upset with Clintons ability to recruit and possibly paying players in the past but the new rules that were put in place last year seemed to do a good job of leveling the playing feild and most teams were competitive resulting in good games with low scores, Tillsonburg themselves had a very good competitive team last year so I can't see that being the reason that they left the woaa, so was it the travel that was involved because with out a doubt Tillsonburg had by far the worst travel of all the teams so that brings me back to, wouldn't it have made more sence from a league standpoint to allow expansion to the teams in order to grow the woaa league and go back to a north-south allignment in order to address the travel that teams like Tillsonburg and Petrolia faced. They could have had a division of Clinton, Seaforth, Petrolia, Tavistock, Tillsonburg, and add in the new Alvinston, Strathroy Langton, and Stratford and whatever else is going to be in the southern region and that cuts down those loooooong northern trips. Maybe its because from what I understand Stratford plans on playing on Saturday afternoon and that dosen't fit in well with the woaa and thats why Stratford was rejected or perhaps its because the woaa feared that a Stratford franchise would hurt current teams like Clinton, Milverton, Tavistock, and Tillsonburg for player recruitment.

I don't have the answer. But the North to South alignment was great while it lasted. But the league shrunk from what 25 plus teams to now 12. there must be a bigger issue at play. the future of both should be interesting to monitor no doubt.

could be more to it, but I was told Stratford’s population is too large for WOAA. The bylaws were crafted in a way to keep it a small town league.
as for other teams, I don’t think they applied. just stratford.
