With a 6-2 win over the Thunder from Tillsonburg, the Mapleton Minto 81's will play Petrolia in the next round.
Saugeen Shores will host the Clinton Radars starting at 830 Friday in Port Elgin and Saturday at the same time in Clinton.
Lots of good hockey to see.

Same 4 teams from last years Semi-Finals, different opponents. Agreed, this is going to be some good hockey. Saugeen in 5 Petrolia in 6 Same Semis but I see completely different results in 2017

You should be afraid to play Clinton in the next round did they not win against the 81's last year 4 to 0 in the playoffs. Who ever wins between Clinton and Saugeen will be the Champs.

True enough it is a new season what team has improved the most from last year? Saugeen has definitely improved has Mapleton or Petrolia. They have to beat Clinton last years champs. No mater what these are going to be good and close games. Let the best team win. Go Winterhawks Go.

Back to hockey talk.
My prediction is Clinton in 5. They are playing well and defending champs. I don't know much about Saugeen other than they were bounced by Mapleton last year in 5 and appear to have a very similar team. Clinton also has a similar team and dominated last year. Both have obviously made a few upgrades so we will see. I wonder if any bad blood will boil over from the regular season. These 2 teams certainly don't like each other.
Mapleton in 7 This one is a toss up for me. Petrolia is a hard working gritty team and has continued to impress. The handled Ripley with ease and look to be a force. Mapleton just came out of a battle with Tillsonburg and look to be coming on strong as of late. I literally flipped a coin on this one.
Should make for an interesting final.

I like your thinking tavifan. Can't really go by the regular season. The Dec. game was not even a game with what the Radars dressed. Looked at point streak for the NOV. game. Both teams were missing a lot of players, Clinton's(5) were top 10's. Not sure about Saugeen's. Winterhawks won in OT. Not much bad blood here, but that could change. Big size advantage to the Port. I think this will be a long one. To quote Freddy I will take the Radars/Hawks in 7 at the most??? HAHAHA. hhhhmmm? What grade did he drop out in??
In the other series I see 81's speed being a big factor. If the Thunder couldn't handle them I don't think Petrolia's "D" will either. Their smaller barn might help some. I'll take Minto here in 5 (or 6.)

I will take the Winterhawks in 6. The Winterhawks last year I think finished 3rd in the north. They were down 6 or 7 players last year do to injuries when they played the 81's in the north final. They have added new players they have five good lines which all can score goals. I have not seen Clinton with a full team so very difficult to say all I can go with is what they did last year. I will take the 81's in 7 I only seen Petrolia early in the season but I think the 81's will prevail. Sorry south I think it is going to be a north champion this year.

Well after an exhausting 7 game battle with Tillsonburg. My bet is on Petrolia winning over Mapleton in 6. Petrolia know how to play on small ice and counteract speed in their own barn. Mapleton is in for a bit of culture shock when they go to Ptown.
My gut tells me Clinton's reign is over. Saugeen in 6 but 7 wont surprise me here. Tavi showed how vulnerable tending is in Clinton. All though I wouldn't be shocked to see Clinton win.
But the Champ I think is coming out of Petrolia. And believe me I cannot believe I am typing that!

Petrolia in 6 and Clinton in 7. Petrolia's hard and heavy forecheck will give the 81's fits. If Ptown can stay out of the box it will be a short series in their favour. Petrolia pushed Clinton to the brink last year and I think they learned a lot from it. Also 81's are banged up right now and they aren't going to like the punishment Ptown is gonna put on them. The Clinton Saugeen series is going to be a dandy I was hoping they would meet in the finals. I just don't know if ports d can handle 3 lines coming at them not stop. I believe whoever wins the specialty teams game will win the series. Going to be a good 2 weeks of hockey!
