According to the WOAA's own senior hockey manual. Money is no longer allowed for the transfer of players. So holding a player over money, should be grounds for a ruling by the woaa no?
C 3. (a) The playing rights of any individual remains with the last team that the player has legally signed with, unless he has obtained a valid release, provided the player is on the twenty-five (25) man active roster as of January 10thof the current season. Teams must submit their “protected” player roster on January 10th. The player’s approved card is fully transferrable to any other team on or before Jan. 10th. An unused player’s card or roster approved player from team requesting release is acceptable as compensation and cards will not count as part of the receiving teams thirty-five (35) card allotment. But will count as part of the post Jan. 10th final rosters twenty-six (26) cards. Any disputes should go to the Senior Hockey Committee for resolution. Money for cards will no longer be allowed.

could b wrong, but I believe the player is to ask for a release, not the team they want to go to.

Hello Sarah, Tell the boys they can come play for the 81s next season where they will be treated with respect not like the Clinton Radars gong show. Does it hurt Stan T when people tell the truth about the Radars and how they deal with players. Sounds like they are not better then the Winterhawks.

It's funny to see how the Radars now handle their hockey operations after a few years of success. I can clearly remember their management group often stating that we will never pay players to play or have anything to do with being involved with the OHA. Well that's surely changed this year by playing a team from the AAA League and they will probably assure people they do not pay their players but have a very generous gas mileage allowance for them. I know quite a few of their players from the London area and the Radars have made it worth their while to make the hour trip north. The Clinton fans are a very passionate group and their following at home and on the road is great to witness even though very few of the players are actually from Clinton. Sooner or later it will catch up to them but they can continue to go this way because they are winning. With the line up you can ice without the brothers remember how they committed to you in the past and let them go. I hear Whitey even wants out

If you checked a quote early in this post by line27, Whitey moved away. Away as in Alberta. Just too far to drive I guess.

I'm not sure I would call the clinton fans passionate. Drunk might be a better word but passionate is fine too.

Hey rookie29 the only team that would have a half ass chance of icing a team with mostly in town players is Tillsonburg with a population of 15000 plus. How many in town players did you have in Komoka,ya right like zero and zero support from your fans.I guess that's why your only enjoyment is telling us all how an organization should be run.Oh wait that's right you don't have a team anymore.

Clinton have went from a 2 Win team to an absolute power house in 5-6 years. Going with the rumours that they do give players money, seems like a decent recipe. Give a few players money, win more games, attract better players, give a few more money, win more games, get more fans, make more money, add better players again, pay a few more, sell out playoff games, win a ring.. rinse and repeat back-to-back years. Now they sit here looking at the rest of the league, as a back to back champion, a loaded lineup destroying the league, and the most successful team on and off the ice in the league.
Proof is in the pudding! Maybe some other teams dish out a little gas money to take care of their players and guys will want to come back and bring their friends. The only people sour about the recipe for success in clinton are the ones that don’t have a spot at the table to taste the meal.
*mic drop*

Hey Hunter i'm not going to rant about the success I had running a team for 10 years but I went out a winner and feel good about that and I never had to put cash in players pockets to win.Just remember with me folding up in Komoka it gave Tillsonburg and your Radars finally a chance to win

Lots of teams have been succesful in this league without handing out paychecks! The true measure of success would ve an organization that was succesful WITHOUT having to resort to those types of things. And my understanding is lots of teams help with gas money but $150-$200 per game they get in Clinton is a hell of a lot of gas

Hello everyone. My name is Sarah Molloy and I am dating Matthew Salituro. I have not been following the WOAA this year, but out of curiosity I decided to check how the teams were doing this season, which has some how lead me to this website. I have noticed there has been some discussion about the Clinton Radars and I would like to set the record straight. Clinton did infact sign too many import players, causing a couple of issues. Only 5 imports are allowed to be iced per game and only 5 imports are allowed to be on the active roster after January. The coach of the Radars called Matt and Stefan numerous times through out the summer to confirm their commitment to the team. The boys were happy to sign again this year with the organization. Only after they had signed with the team did they discover there were too many imports. Both guys were told they were scratched the day before the game for the first 4 games of the season as the coach wanted to play his other import players. After this they respectfully asked to be released from the team so they could play more regularly else where. Their request was denied. Clinton stated the only way they would release them is if they got another team to pay Clinton money for them. The boys felt this was an inappropriate way to handle the situation at this level of hockey and have decided to sit out until January. They may or may not play for a different team for the second half of the season if the opportunity presents itself. Although I have to say this break from hockey has been very nice lol. I apologize for speaking out of place about team information, but I am personally very disappointed with how the organization handled this particular situation. All of the players in this league have dealt with enough hockey politics and bullshit coaches during their junior/pro careers. These players are all adults and would benifit strongly from being told the truth. This a senior hockey league at the end of the day. The players play for fun. I'm typing this note during the spur of the moment and I'm sure I'll regret posting this tomorrow. I apologize again for speaking out. I just thought I'd shed some light on a situation that was being debated. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of season. Take care. Sarah I'm to understand there is a league rule stating if a player is refused a release when they have a valid reason to request one the player may apply to the league committee to be released, lots of examples over the years around the league where it has happened. Apparently it is also against league rules to request money for a player, if the brothers ask for a release from the league maybe mention that as well

Grinder,
Name a league champion in the past 7 years that did not give players some type of compensation, other than komoka.... I’ll wait....
I don’t see anything wrong with guys getting compensation to play. A little extra money to help with some extra expenses while playing Sr hockey with your buddies, seems pretty awesome to me.
And about Komoka, let’s be honest here. If you are or were the gm Komoka and you are who I think you are. I am pretty certain you refused players releases a time or two and also demanded some money for player releases as well. Sure, you may have won a ring without giving anyone anything. You’re also the first team in hockey history to fold after winning the league. That tells me two things, the players hated playing for you because they got treated like garbage and clearly rallied around each other to win. Secondly, you ran an awful program or you would still have players, a team, and a say in the league.
I might have to go dust the skates off if guys are getting 150$ a game to play for Clinton. They have clearly built an enterprise in radar land if they can afford to do that. All the power to them as well, much rather see the players get rewarded rather then the team lining their pockets. After all, it is the players who play the game, risk the injuries, block the shots, put the product on the ice, win the games, attract the fans.
Cudos to clinton, tilly, saugeen and whoever else treats their players well and gives them all some extra motivation to deliver a good product. Clearly no surprise the 6 out of the past 7 champions are these three teams. I guess what’s the old saying.. “money talks”? Winners win losers complain

Soon there will be a long winded message from the Gary Bettman of the Sr League Stan T. Can't wait for it Stan T you Dick head. Shockingly even a Minion is taller than Bettman and 81's Fan. Also, 81's Fan, with no one to cheer for you still prove your ignorance by opening your keyboard. Finally, I started this thread about opinions on team standings, not players and I have been, uncharacteristically (apparently) brief. Still interested in your thoughts (the collective you) on the current standings?
