The most disturbing part of this whole thing is that the Senior Committee was willing to overlook this until someone appealed to the WOAA by-passing the Committee.

I would not be so quick to blame anyone , It could actually be someone in the top 4, Everyone has a history with Petrolia, and no one wants to play them first round. Regardless rules are rules , it sucks the way it went down, but it is what it is.

Who cares. They broke the rules.a little rule yea! Still broke it. Did petrolia not protest on Clinton last year and Ripley? Seaforth playing Clinton first round is probably 5000 in there bank. Smart math says do it.

Exactly, doesn't matter who protestested. All other 12 teams had the right to do so. And really they should have been stripped of more than just 6 points according to the rules. It's tough to see because of the rocky start they had just to have a team this year. But even if the last place team had something like this happen, someone would have protested it. Just glad to see that the league can enforce some type of punishment instead of just rolling over. Hope the squires can learn from what is a minor mistake and get some real people involved to make sure it doesn't happen again.

the story out there is goodacre signed a manager's card, but not a player's card. could've resulted in two more wins forfeited, but i guess they let it slide.

Goodacre did sign a Manager's card by not a player's card. 'By the rules', Petrolia should have lost those games also. As for the Squire statement that the cards were sent electronically, that is hog wash. The office never got them. Just a saving face measure I guess. They messed up. Other teams have too and paid the price in games and playoff series. It is unfortunate but the rules need to be equal for everyone.
It is very sad that a Team had to Appeal. It took allot of courage to do so. It will be a bloodbath tonight but it is not Seaforth fault. It is the fault of the Manager that did not send in the card.
It should never have gone that far. As for the Senior Hockey Committee, many of them were not informed or even notified of the decision. Dickson made it on his own. It clearly states in the manual that he cannot. It must go to the committee.

I get it, rules are rules, however, the fact that the appeal came nearly two months after the issue(s) at hand is pathetic. So, the Squires are penalized twice essentially as they lose points AND have zero chance of redemption in order to make it up in the standings. Seems like negligence on the league (and/or board) for allowing things to carry on so far after the issue at hand. Maybe somebody in the know could clarify how long a team has the ability to make an appeal (for whatever the occurrence)? Seems ludacris that it could happen this long after. As for the fact that Seaforth (who allegedly made the appeal) is going to the playoffs over a team that beat them three times this season and outscored them 22-7(?) is embarrassing. Hopefully they reap the rewards of those two playoff games and get there $5000 they anticipate (although I don't think too many Radar fans are going to make the trip to watch a blowout game). Maybe they should have just settled on being the top of the 2nd tier for another year...

... and while I'm on here, maybe a way to resolve team's mistakes (like Clinton's from last season and Petrolia's from this year) is to strip the points, but not allot them to the other team. That way you penalize the team that made the mistake and not the other teams (Shallow Lake) that were indirectly involved in the outcome. Just a thought.
